CITRA (art in Sinhala) is a place where restaurant and bar sit alongside with independent fashion brands and an art gallery, forming a community of like minded vacationers. The menu (by chef Barak Avital) is seasonally-based, and frequently updated according to the best ingredients available.
CITRA is Kook’s Paradise little sister and she is located only 800 meters away from the villa, right on the main road of Ahangama.

Amazing place
The best meal I had in Sri Lanka. The food was delicious, the service was great and the music outstanding.
Thanks Citra for a lifetime experience.
That’s by far the best Resturant in SriLanka.
Would say one of the best food I’ve ever had.
The freshness and the taste of the fish are incredible!!
The ambiance is amazing such a good music and cool staff which giving you nice service with a smile. Thx
Came here for a lateish dinner after hearing good things and fancying something different. Tel Aviv menu interesting.
We’d been told by our hotel that it might be a bit challenging for our kids (12 and 9) but they adored it too. Kids pasta was more than an afterthought and my daughter loved the gnocchi and fish.
My fish kebab on chollah was one of the best things I’ve had in ages – masterful.
Atmosphere was cool but not intimidatingly so, some super hipster young Israelis of course but a mixed crowd and everyone very friendly.
Price was remarkably low for this quality. Best meal of the holiday (and we are brilliantly all trip!)
Ps kids looooved the bathroom, very funky!!!
It’s very nice place with a good coffee, they even make an iced latte. And good desserts. But they don’t have a normal food. I’ve tried a carrot cake. Not too sweet, tasty.
Тут вкусный кофе и десерты, но приходить надо не голодным, так как еды нет.
If you looking for some fine dine around kabalana, this is the place for you.
The fish were fresh the owners are super nice and friendly, I would definitely come back again!
The guy at the front in the baseball cap is rude. The food is average. Overpriced, trying to be pretentious but not succeeding. The wait staff are nice, locals, so to be expected. All the management are so arrogant, it’s actually almost laughable. Also, when adding 3% for paying with a credit card, make sure you have a calculator and don’t accidentally add 10%. Jokers.
The focaccia bread wrapped around a cinnamon stick is nice.
All in all. This place is not good. And the people who own/manage, are rude pigs when they are surfing. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
The food is mind blowing, the design and service suprising for Lanka standards. I felt like I am in Europe with a tropical vibe:)
The best food that we eat in Sri Lanka!
The service was great, very professional and the atmosphere was amazing!!
The appetisers and desserts that I tried were ok but my main meal was very average. I had the golden curry for my main meal which is described as their signature dish. It was very bland and the least interesting curry that I had in Sri Lanka. I was introduced to the owner and the manager when I was there, thankfully they behave better in their restaurant than they do when they’re out in the water. There are plenty of really good restaurants in the area but Citra is not one of them.
I live in New York where there’s no shortage of incredible food and restaurants, and this dinner was the best I’ve had in recent memory. This place is a gem and is going to be #1 in Asia one day – YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST.
We visited Citra for a family dinner and we just went crazy!
Whoever created this place, from the design and the thought of every detail to the amazing food we ate, is simply amazing. Enjoyed every dish and of course the friendly service, the experience we had there is beyond any dining experience we experienced in Sri Lanka.
Well done!
The food was excellent, amazing taste and presentation. It’s a bit more pricey than most restaurants in Sri Lanka and the portions are not too big but it was totally worth it and we were still full. We had to start the focaccia which was crunchy and the sauces were very tasty and the fish tartare which was so fresh and delicious. As a main we both had fish kebab and the fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked and so soft. The combination of flavours was just amazing. As a desert we shared the chocolate cremeaux and it was to die for! Cocktails were also creative and delicious. Finally the service was impeccable, very attentive staff and the atmosphere is nice. We will definitely come back!
We had one of our best dinner experiences at this unique restaurant.
The food is creative, special, interesting and above all absolutely delicious!
The facilities are beautifully designed and maintained, the place feels clean, organized and homey.
The staff and the chef were incredibly nice and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we have a perfect dinner experience.
Highly recommended – don’t leave Sri Lanka without trying it at least once.
I really enjoyed the place, but it’s not that worth it.
We came for a dinner, had a nice time, but there was no tea or coffee with the sweet things, only water and alcohol which is uncomfy
The food was nice and delicious, but not that special.
Still it’s a good try for one evening.
Just try yourself and choose
The food was super fresh and testy !! the staff was really friendly and lovely. Great music and an excellent atmosphere ! I highly recommend this place ( fish swharma itss amazing!!! Don’t miss that). Thank you guys .
The best restaurant in srilanka!! Amazing food and atmosphere. Golden curry is a must! Service was great and lovely!i slept in mirisia and it was worth the 25 minutes drive 🙂
With a more attentive service this would have been a great dinning experience.
Perhaps we were unlucky as we had to ask for the menu, the waiting times between starters and mains were circa 1h. The staff was busy having shots with friends and guests from their own country ♀️
Starters: chickpea salad (too much vinagre sadly)
Mains: fish of the day and gold curry – would recommend both! The cauliflower pure was delicious!
Dessert: Banana fritter (bland)
I was with my father for a vacation and we couldn’t believe that we are eating in Sri Lanka.
The restaurant is beautiful the the team is super nice and food is delicious – Tataki was amazing and also the Golden Curry and the pasta dishes.
We were at Kabalana beach for a week and ate there every night! We could look for something else since it was too good every night.
Highly recommended!!!
We went on a Saturday to check out the 805 and this was where we landed. I had an amber lager & my husband had a red lager (I should’ve gotten the names of the beers…we’ll be going back so I’ll get the names of the beer next time) but it’s nice because there are plenty of seats at regular tables, bar height tables & the actual bar. There were people of all ages enjoying the brew, pizza (from Earth & Stone pizza) and meeting up with friends. It was nice to go out & enjoy the brewery & food with my sweetheart.
Best restaurant in the south coast! Service was on point. The food is absolutely delicious. Cocktails are dangerously great! My honest goal to work my way at through the entire menu. Thank you for a fantastic experience each time we visit!
The best food in Sri Lanka for sure such an amazing service and ambiance. This place is a must !!!
Wow!!!
Stopped in after a hot afternoon and had the family with me. The crowds were here for a Saturday afternoon but the service was excellent. Even though the kitchen said no calzones after 3pm the recommendation was to have all the ingredients made into a pizza. Wow was that simple and great.
The craft beers were amazing
Great place for a Saturday afternoon.
Wonderfully curated environment outside of the Guantanamo bay style playlist that ruled the atmosphere at our table. Songs would range from Son of a Preacher man to Salsa to some ancient middle eastern Traditional. The music was so back and forth between genres it was hard to even focus on the food. When asked if this restaurant is a seafood restaurant they quickly said no yet almost every single dish contains fish… no chicken or beef or lamb… just fish. They call themselves a Patisserie but not one french dessert could be found. I ate here 3 years ago and had a great experience but things have clearly changed. The food came in incredibly small portions, was overpriced and pretentiously labeled in American dollars. Service was way to slow to be charging such high prices considering the portions were so small. overall disappointment
Very tasty well presented food, a fusion of Middle Eastern, Italian and Sri Lankan influences. Ambiance is pleasant if rather close to a very busy road. The only real disappointment was the Front of house management.
The lady running Front of house was surly to the point of rude, Seemed to be having trouble coping with what is not a very large establishment.
Beware that if you plan to pay by card a 3% additional charge is a made. Really not a big deal but the place is not cheap and this is only thrown at you as you pay. Personally I would think a note on the menus to that effect would eliminate any bad feeling.
As I’ve said the food is very good and I’m only marking it down due to the front of house attitude.
