CITRA (art in Sinhala) is a place where restaurant and bar sit alongside with independent fashion brands and an art gallery, forming a community of like minded vacationers. The menu (by chef Barak Avital) is seasonally-based, and frequently updated according to the best ingredients available.
CITRA is Kook’s Paradise little sister and she is located only 800 meters away from the villa, right on the main road of Ahangama.

Probably the best restaurant in Sri Lanka! This place is everything I could ask for as a picky type of person with food ! I was surprised how good was the quality of the food . I went with a couple of friends and ordered all the starters and the main dishes . We enjoyed every one of them . Other than the amazing food it has an amazing vibe with very cool people and great cocktails ! Would definitely be back !
It’s very nice place with a good coffee, they even make an iced latte. And good desserts. But they don’t have a normal food. I’ve tried a carrot cake. Not too sweet, tasty.
Тут вкусный кофе и десерты, но приходить надо не голодным, так как еды нет.
Big wow! It was worth the wait. The food was great, and the staff are lovely. Unfortunately we came at our last day in ahangama. Very recommended !!! Fish tatki was perfect
I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly- the staff, the owners, the atmosphere, the quality of food, the flavours- As soon as you walk in you are welcomed with warm smiles from staff who help you in every way to have a wonderful and very special evening. Every single meal is divine- as we live close by and own a guest house in the area- we have known near 100 guests of Citra and also visited ourselves 20+ times. We know that booking a meal in at Citra is one that you’ll remember for a long time to come! We have eaten every meal on the menu and it is all mind blowing. We feel so grateful for Citra and the wonderful people who have created it with so much love and attention to details. Enjoy!!
Citra is owned by a group of young Israeli surfers who have made this restaurant a lovely place to relax and unwind after a busy day on the beach. The food is a fusion of healthy options and their interest in their guests’ needs is high. Recently opened, I am sure it will become a frequent choice for anyone interested in a nice place to kick back..
Citra did not disappoint!
Every mouthful of both starters and mains sheer delight!
The desserts were off the scale!
It really should not be missed if you visit Galle and the surrounding area.
Best place to eat in Sri Lanka!
Food is absolutely delicious, the atmosphere is great and the service is a truly great. Tabula salad and the tomato butter gnocchi are my favorites.
Very tasty well presented food, a fusion of Middle Eastern, Italian and Sri Lankan influences. Ambiance is pleasant if rather close to a very busy road. The only real disappointment was the Front of house management.
The lady running Front of house was surly to the point of rude, Seemed to be having trouble coping with what is not a very large establishment.
Beware that if you plan to pay by card a 3% additional charge is a made. Really not a big deal but the place is not cheap and this is only thrown at you as you pay. Personally I would think a note on the menus to that effect would eliminate any bad feeling.
As I’ve said the food is very good and I’m only marking it down due to the front of house attitude.
Very good food, nice place, good music, good wine. I can recomend for everyone looking something else than curry.
I spent one week in the south coast of Sri Lanka with my family lately. For sure citra was the best place we eat in our holiday. The restaurant set up is just amazing, from the the chair to the food everything is perfect. The vibes and the atmosphere is great and the service is super friendly. Well done!
ok…so I’ve already eaten in many restaurants on the island of Sri Lanka…Citra is the best of them all…the food is great…even more then great…excellent+, the cocktails are excellent…the service is courteous and professional…the atmosphere is excellent.. The music is delightful… a once-in-a-lifetime experience… I became addicted to the "fish from the market" dish… and the "golden curry" dish…

Really liked the place.good food and good service, tabula salad was perfect
Very nice vibes from the staff
Stopped in after a hot afternoon and had the family with me. The crowds were here for a Saturday afternoon but the service was excellent. Even though the kitchen said no calzones after 3pm the recommendation was to have all the ingredients made into a pizza. Wow was that simple and great.
The craft beers were amazing
Great place for a Saturday afternoon.
We arrived at this restaurant to find it was fully booked, so we left and came back another evening and again it was fully booked.
However we waited for a table.
There’s a reason why it’s so popular as it’s AMAZING
The service was wonderful from start to finish, food is define
It’s on the pricier side of Sri Lanka however worth it for a special evening out
I even loved the cleanliness and quirkiness of the bathroom
It’s a MUST
